Lumenis IPL: A BRIGHT SOLUTION TO DRY EYES

IPL Treatment for Dry Eye

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an advanced treatment that’s designed to provide relief from the discomfort of dry eye syndrome.

It’s quick, non-invasive, pain-free, and uses special light waves to gently heat the skin and unclog blocked meibomian glands. This treatment encourages the glands to produce oils that lubricate the eyes and reduce inflammation and itchiness.

IPL’s benefits go beyond dry eye treatment – it can also be used to address skin conditions such as rosacea and redness caused by burst blood vessels. Our IPL machine is FDA-approved and we’re proud to have been the first in the world to use it at our practice.

What is IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatment?

IPL Treatment, also known as photofacial or photorejuvenation, is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light pulses to target various skin concerns, such as sun damage, brown spots, redness, and uneven skin tone.

How does IPL Treatment work?

During an IPL session, a handheld device delivers pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin. The light energy targets melanin (pigment) or hemoglobin (red blood cells), heating and destroying unwanted cells without damaging surrounding tissue.

What skin concerns can IPL Treatment address?

IPL Treatment can improve the appearance of sun spots, age spots, freckles, rosacea, broken capillaries, acne scars, and overall skin texture. It can also reduce fine lines and stimulate collagen production.

Who can benefit from IPL Treatment?

IPL Treatment is suitable for individuals looking to improve the clarity, tone, and texture of their skin. It is effective for most skin types, though darker skin tones may require specialized settings to avoid pigmentation changes.

How many IPL sessions are needed?

The number of IPL sessions needed varies depending on the specific skin concern being treated and individual skin response. Typically, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.

Is IPL Treatment painful?

IPL Treatment may cause mild discomfort, often described as a snapping sensation or a slight sting, similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. A cooling gel or numbing cream may be applied to minimize discomfort.

Are there any side effects or risks associated with IPL Treatment?

Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, darkening or lightening of the skin (especially in individuals with darker skin tones), and rarely, blistering or scarring. These risks can be minimized by choosing a skilled provider and following pre- and post-treatment care instructions.
